Cognitive Analytical Therapy (CAT)
CAT is a talking therapy which integrates aspects of cognitive therapy such as CBT and long term exploratory approaches such as psychodynamic psychotherapy. It involves working in partnership with the client to discover how their psychological problems have developed and are being maintained. CAT involves a relational model of therapy which sees psychological problems as existing between people rather than within people.
CAT is an evidence based therapy which can be used to treat a range of psychological problems such as chronic anxiety, depression and relationship problems. It provides a non-judgemental approach to enable people to work through the underlying issues such as trauma or abuse rather than simply focusing on symptoms.
